Driving up from Tampa for a few days. Want to take my 7 and 10 year olds to play in the snow right before Christmas. I want to keep the driving down as much as I can. Love to hear input on where to ski/tube and stay as a family the furthest south we can. Thank you in advance for your time!

We stayed in two different places before. First, in Gatlinburg, TN, at a cabin near there so we could ski at Ober Gatlinburg. A couple years ago we stayed near Maggie Valley, NC (near Asheville) so we could ski at Cataloochee. Both areas were nice but the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area is a lot more touristy with more restaurants and things for kids. The Maggie Valley area is more isolated and good for outdoors stuff like hiking. Asheville has a nice area downtown for food and sightseeing. But with the kids I%26#39;d have to recommend the Gatlinburg area. Good luck!

Steve hit the nail on the head on this one. Maggie Valley is about an hour closer then Gatlinburg to Florida.
