My husband and I are going to Asheville for Thanksgiving and would love suggestions for dinner- we really don%26#39;t need a fancy turkey dinner- we would just like to enjoy a good meal and some good drinks/wine. We are staying at the Renaissance so walking distance from there would be even better!
Asheville for ThanksgivingI have stayed at the Renaissance several times. It places you in position to walk to many of the downtown restaurants. I would recommend looking at the Asheville Citizen Times paper or online to see which restaurants are serving that day. Of course the Grove Park Inn will have a nice meal...and is a beautiful place. I love Cafe on the Square on Pack Sq.....and the Flying Frog (haven%26#39;t been there in a few years)........lots of smaller place in and around Haywood, Pack Sq, Grove Arcade. Just check the newspapers in advance. I bet Friday will be hectic with shoppers in the downtown, so an additional reservation for that night might be a good idea.
Asheville for ThanksgivingAccording to AIR (Asheville Independent Restaurants) the following are open on Thanksgiving.
Ambassador%26#39;s GRille %26amp; Gabrielle%26#39;s at Richmond Hill Inn
Bavarian Lodge Restaurant
Boathouse on Lake Julian
Bier Garden (withing walking distance of Renaissance)
Fiores Ristorante Toscana (walking distance)
Grovewood Cafe
Horizons at the Grove Park Inn
Mamacitas (also walking distance, but a little hike)
Southside Cafe
Suset Terrace Chophouse at Grove Park Inn
The last time I ate at GPI it was horrible. Mamacitas would be very casual. Bier Garden is mostly burgers and beer with appetizers. I%26#39;ve never been to Fiores so I really can%26#39;t comment.
