We are considering a trip to NC and would drive to the coast, but have 4 boys 16-8 and need things for them to do....
visit to NC in Feebruary with kids....anything to do
Carolina Beach will surely be very quiet in February...don%26#39;t expect too much.
There%26#39;s a state park there, so if it%26#39;s a mild day, it%26#39;s worth a visit. Nice maritime habitat to look at.
About 20 minutes south is the NC State Aquarium at Fort Fisher. It%26#39;s open year-round and definitely worth a visit. That should certainly fill a good half-day of activity.
Fort Fisher itself is also a historic site---a Civil War fort.
Of course you can also drive up to Wilmington, which is a decent-sized city...the historic downtown waterfront is a popular year-round attraction. They%26#39;ve got a horse/buggy tour that goes around looking at the old antebellum houses and historic business district.
There%26#39;s also tours at the old USS North Carolina, a World War II vessel that%26#39;s been preserved...if you%26#39;ve got four boys I think they%26#39;ll like that.

Yes, that area will be very quiet that time of year.
You may want to consider heading just a little south to Myrtle Beach, SC. (maybe one hour from Carolina Beach) LOTS more to do there. Still quiet, but more things open, resturants, malls, shops, etc.
