Vacation Renters ';Beware';

';RENTER%26#39;S BEWARE!!!!!';

Recently we Stayed in a House offered by a Realty Company in Emerald Isle. It Was a Wonderful House, and we had a Wonderful time.

The Purpose of my message is to make Renters Beware of the Security Deposit. Be sure to Check the House out Carefully prior to beginning your stay. If possible have someone from the agency go with you and do a thorough Inspection, making note of issues you may find .Inspect Closly and Carefully!!!! It would be good to Snap Pictures of any spots on Carpets, Upholstery, or anything you may be accused of damaging. I made the mistake in NOT doing this, as I trust people easily. There were many things wrong with the House, but we did not say anything about it. We Didn%26#39;t think we would be charged for something that was already damaged.

We realized this on our stay. We were suprised and disappointed anyone would do this, but it happened.

Vacation Renters ';Beware';

This is a good idea regardless of the realty company or what community you stay in. I am always so embarrassed when my family gets into the rental and starts picking it apart. We often fill an entire page of things wrong with the house -- whether we expect the realty company to fix them for us or not.

Your list should include broken furniture, torn screens, hot tub issues, etc. If an appliance doesn%26#39;t work, call the realty company. Many of them keep a supply of new toasters, blenders, mixers, ice cube trays, etc.

It%26#39;s easy to blame the realty company for this inconvenience. However, not all renters are considerate with others%26#39; homes.

Check up on the company. Maybe do a word search here in the little empty box upper right. Have you seen all the similar issues with surf or sound in the obx? Not saying yours is like that one, but...check to find out.

We had the same experience with Sandbridge Reality. There are just too many small things from carpet stains to holes in screens for the cleaning people to see in the few hours in between renters leaving and new ones checking in. You would have to spend considerable time inspecting and listing every little thing wrong when you first arrive.That%26#39;s just impracticle. We were charged for carpet cleaning for gum on the carpet under the coffee table.We didn%26#39;t put it there but after we were gone they can say anything.

I have not heard anything of Surf or Sound, but one could also check the Chamber of Commerce or even the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any reports.

My unfortunate dealing was not with Sandbridge Realty, but you are exactly right. There was no way they could tell. There were so many other problems that had not been fixed. I understand the owner came in and found all the issues. Chances are they had not been to the house between each Rental. And............................... After leaving, you have no choice. They deposit your security check and send you whatever they do not spend. At this point, nothing can be done. I am in the process of reporting this to the Better Business Bureau .

I always do the lump sum option ($45) and have never inspected/reported anything nor have I ever been charged for something. Maybe they are charging the insurance company that offers the coverage.
