RCs in Williamston, NC has some fine country cooking. Collards best I have ever eaten. Cornbread is cooked on a sheet pan and is crispy like pizza crust. Rutabaga is cooked with ham hocks - yummmy. I found this in a magazine called Our State.

Best bet would be small out of the way place...off the beaten path. I would think.
a few years back some feiwnsa took me to a place in pittsboro nc that would make this list if only i could recall the name of it. any one care to try to refresh my memory?
The Daniel Boone Inn wonderful located in Boone N.C. and also a place called Shirley';s only open on week ends as long as you can eat the bowls are never empty all country cooking
