Best Skiing for 1st Timer

I am looking for the best place to ski closest to Durham, NC. Also, I would need (adult) lessons, so I would appreciate your recommendation(s). Thank you!

Greetings - I have preferences for lessons..

recommending either Ski Appalachian or Ski Sugar

having said that, you want your time to be well spent, so pay close attention to the weather %26amp; the slope conditions...the areas webcams can be very usefull to see what%26#39;s going on...just google High Country Webcams

Right now it%26#39;s a little hairy, as it%26#39;s very warm during the day %26amp; they lose a lot off the slopes %26amp; have to re-groom overnight..

if possible, wait until we get some good cold snaps %26amp; then off you go

I have done the learn to ski package at app ski mtn and there were adults in it. Its a great deal. Sugar has the best snow though.
