Where to go sledding

We have a large family and I don%26#39;t want to pay to ride a disc or tube down a snow hill. Is there any where around where we can just go to a hill and sled on our own? Like a public park or camp area?

We go on the parkway past Moses Cone Manor on a small hill where you go to Blowing Rock. There is usually a crowd, you cannot miss it. Have fun!!!

I agree on the sledding location. It is where the Parkway, Shull%26#39;s Mill Rd. and HWY 221 come together. The problem is finding snow. You may very well need to seek out artificial snow at one of the resorts to do any sledding at all. Also, if it is snowing the Parkway may be closed and Shull%26#39;s Mill can be treacherous so you may want to get there via 221.

Beech Mtn has a hill for kids. They make snow if it is cold enough. It is near the town hall.

I am ready for snow!
