Biltmore Behind the Scene tour?

Has anyone ever taken the tours of the other parts of the house not seen on the regular tour? If so, is it worth the extra $$ to see? I%26#39;ve been to the house twice and might go again this summer, but would like to see something a little different.

yes, we thought so, but it%26#39;s an involved longer tour. very interesting and informative though, an i would reccomend it highly. like you, we had been through once before and thought we%26#39;d appreciate an enhanced tour the second go round. we did too!!!!

There are several options that you can consider. The Behind The Scenes tour is approximatley one hour in length and you get to see many areas of the house that are not on the regular tour. Most of these areas are rooms that are being restored - a very long process. If you have been to the house before, it is definately worth it to take this tour.

Another option is the rooftop tour. You still see some of the Behind the Scenes areas of the house, but you also get to go onto the roof of the house. It is weather dependent, but the views are spectacular.

A third option is the Legacy of the Land tour. This is a great option as well and focuses more on the grounds. You hear very interesting stories on why this land was chosen by George Vanderbilt, you also see how the materials were brought up from the train station, and how resevoir where the water comes from.

Just depepends on what your interests are, but I would recommend any of these three tours.

Thank you all. I think we will do this on our vacation. My husband and I have been before and I want to go back and he doesn%26#39;t want to see the ';same old things';, so this might be a good compromise. I can see the house, just different parts of it.
