I am not familar with the layout.. is there a place to stay so that you can walk to bars without getting behind the wheel? and would that be downtown, or near ASU, or are the two close? Any advice would be much appreciated! thanks!

Nothing that close that I would recommend - sorry.
Most of the nicer chain hotels are at least a 1/3 or 1/2 mile away....

Comfort Suites
High Country Inn
Others are much farther away %26amp; require a drive...
Options:
ride the AppleCart bus system, or else have a DD just in case

I stayed with a group of friends at the Scottish Inn, which is within walking distance to ASU and across the street from The Library, FlipSide, and Klondike. It is an older hotel, but it was clean and decent for one night to crash after a party at The Library. The best bars in Boone IMO are downtown on King Street: Boone Saloon, Macados, Murphy%26#39;s. They are walkable from the Scottish Inn - 10-15 minutes, though you would%26#39;nt want to do it in the winter months. Enjoy!
