which family beach?

We usually go to Emerald Isle. We are looking for a new beach to go to this year. We like Emerald Isle, we just want to go somewhere new. We want a place where it is not crowded and family friendly...and not on the expensive side. There is an aquarium there that is nice to take the kids to.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a nice uncrowded beach to go to?

My family owns a beach house in Oak Island, NC. I have been vacationing there for over 35 years. Oak Island %26amp; Caswell Beach have long, uncrowded, family friendly beaches. This area is about 40 minutes south of Wilmington. Southport is a quaint harbor town nearby with lots of nice shops and restaurants. YOu may also take the ferry from SOuthport to Fort Fisher where they have a nice aquarium. There is a nice selectiion of condos and beach houses to rent for many different budgets. Check out Brunswick County Beaches or Oak Island. Good luck!

Hi howiedawn....try Kure Beach, NC...Ocean Dunes resort is great! Literally around the corner

from the Aquarium, ferry and Ft. Fisher.

NIce, very quiet...and 5 minutes to Carolina Beach for resturants and 25 minutes to Wilmington.

Both of those suggestions are great. I really like Kure but it is a little more expensive than Oak Island. Also consider N Topsail Island, Wrightsville Beach, and Holden Beach. None have an aquarium real close.

Also there is a an aquarium in Manteo on the Outer Banks. You could look at the Kitty Hawk/Kill Devil Hills/Nags Head area but that is more crowded than you want. Drive about 30 minutes south and you will find a nice area that is what you have described. Rodanthe, Waves or Salvo are all linked together and are there are plenty of places to stay.

I would be happy with any of the places mentioned...so I don%26#39;t know if there is a ';right'; choice here...they are all good choices. Good luck in your decision.

If you go to Kure beach try to eat at Freddies. Right down from the pier. They are great. My favorite if portobellos stuffed with crabmeat. Ate there when my daughter graduated from UNCW. great mojotos also.

Hi there West Virginian! I am in WV also. Close to Wheeling. We have vacationed the last 4 years in the outer banks. It is AWSOME for families. It is not crowded at all. Even staying in a condo it is not crowded. We always stay oceanfront in the killdevil hills/ kitty hawk area. It has the most to do. There are a couple of putt putt and go kart areas. REALLY nice pier with a small arcade. My husband and 10 year old are big fishermen. You can go to hattaras island if you want REAL uncrowded. I like the kill devil area. There are no boardwalks. There is a nice selection of restaurants. If you stay in the Kill devil area go to outer banks brewing company. They are a brewery but they have a NICE dining room. Really neat. Great food! The start it off with boule bread and oil dip. My kids love it. :o) This beach is nothing like Virginia or Myrtle. If you love Emerald Isle...you will love OBX. They also have a minor league baseball team that plays right in Kill devil hills. So, if you have any baseball fans....this would be a cheap evening of fun. Nags head is right by kill devil hills. There is an aquarium, many lighthouses, orville and wilbur wright museum, jockey ridge.... huge dunes for gliding off of. I hope this helps!

Hi! As a family of four, we%26#39;ve been to Outer Banks (Avon, Waves %26amp; Hatteras), Kure Beach, Wrightsville Beach, Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head Island, Ft Lauderdale, etc.

We%26#39;re into nature and outdoors and not the party scene. Must say that of all the beaches we%26#39;ve gone too, all four of us (2 adults %26amp; 2 teens) agree that Kure Beach had to be the MOST BORING.

We love the beach (we%26#39;re trying Emerald Isle this summer). We don%26#39;t need much to keep us entertain and don%26#39;t need to be on the go and running everyday, but we%26#39;ll never go back to Kure Beach.

If you%26#39;re looking for peace and quiet, avoiding the major crowds while also have something of interest to see/do; then I%26#39;d recommend the Outer Banks. Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills are much more crowded than the lower banks (Avon, Waves %26amp; Hatteras). I would recommend Avon/Waves over Hatteras. They are mid-way and gives you the chance to go in either direction!
