My girlfriends and I are planning a mountain get-away to Brevard. We normally go in the Fall and do all the hiking, Fall leaf watching activities. Any suggestions for activities for the first week of March. We are Florida girls and are somewhat intimidated by the cold. Any festivals, spiritual/health gatherings, art/craft spots you recommend? Thanks.
Brevard in March
There is no telling what the weather will be like in March. We could have a week of 70 degree weather or it could rain...or snow...It will probably be too early to see much foliage - unless those 70degree days are in play. Brevard is a pretty quiet area, though often the college (Brevard College) has events going on like music and theater. Downtown Brevard has recently gotten a few more restaurants (check out chowhound.com) though reviews on some are mixed.

Book some time for Elements Spa downtown - excellent!
Try a play at the Flat Rock Playhouse in Flat Rock. They are broadway type plays...outstanding. There is a nice shop in downtown Brevard named The White Squirrel. Has some nice stuff there. Hiking should be safe again now that they have cought the madman who murdered the 3 hikers in the area.
I don%26#39;t think hiking was ever not safe, as long as you follow precautions like hiking with others, letting someone know where you are going and when you are returning....From what I%26#39;ve seen they have only linked him definitely to one killing - the others are still not definite.
I just read where he had stolen plates on the van when arrested. They were stolen in Brevard NC where the elderly couple were murdered hiking. Sounds like he did it to me.
