CB Town Council Approves Fairfield Inn Hotel

Well...oceansounds, what is your opinion?

I can understand both sides of the argument.

CB Town Council Approves Fairfield Inn Hotel

I think it will have a positive impact on the island. CB has been in a state of anemia for a few years and we have seen no movement in redeveloping the central business district until now. My hope is that the Master Development Committee will come together in developing a plan that will be acceptable to the majority of residents, and from what I hear, that is happening.

Have a respectable name brand hotel, Fairfield Inn, entering our marketplace will only help bring in more tourist with larger pocketbooks as opposed to some of the current mom/pop motels on the island. With a growing infusion of higher income tourist, we should see a notable increase in town revenues as well as local merchants/restaurants should see a steady increase in sales.

The Master Development plan is calling for a aggressive face lift for the town and this will not be cheap. To fund these projects, we will need additional revenues, grants and possibly long term bonds. And as the Central Business District begins to turn, we as residents will be able to enjoy the benefits. I look forward to the day when we will have adequate shopping and restaurants that I%26#39;ll never feel compelled to leave the island. I look forward to more bike trails and pedestrian walk ways. I look forward to a boardwalk that is clean and family friendly. I look forward to Carolina Beach being considered one of the premiere beach towns on the NC coast.

If our new Town Counsel approaches the issues with common sense and long term planning, we should have a shining future. We should see controlled growth that improves the lives of locals without choking us with over growth. Time will tell if they will be successful, but personally, I think they are off to a good start.

We were there two years ago and I think I remember seeing something about a big hotel/condo/resort being built in the boardwalk area. (Arcadian maybe?) Is this still being considered or has it been shelved?

We love Carolina Beach and its small town atmosphere...hopefully though, even with new developments coming in...it will stay that way.

Arcadia and Jubilee Park both came to a halt and the land is back up for sale. Hopefully some smaller scale projects will come to life over the next few years.
