I had my mind set on staying in Avon, but now I%26#39;m not sure! I will have a 3 year old and would like some place small where you can walk to resturants and shops and good swimming beaches.
Thanks for any tips!
P.S. I don%26#39;t want to stay in Nags Head or Kitty Hawk, too busy.

Not sure of what you are looking for in a good swimming beach but just south of Avon there is a place called the” Haul over area” on the sound side I use to take my children when they were young There is parking and showers no current or waves and shallow for a good ways out too an excellent place for a 3 year old But you will probably have a short drive to it.
Depending on your house will depend on walking distance to shopping and restraints but most of the Outer Bank is the same unless you go to Ocracoke then most every thing is in walking distance from any home but getting to the beach you would have to drive. And it wouldn’t be a good beach for a 3 year old as it is mostly Ocean front
Please help with your OBX advice!Duck would be a great consideration as you can either walk or bike ride to the village from most houses.
There are nice shops and restaurants. We go up (from Southern Shores) once a week during the summer with our little ones to have ice cream and watch the sunset. Also they have concerts weekly...it%26#39;s a nice family night out.
