What restaurants are open this time of year?

Headed to Ocracoke this coming weekend (1/18-21) and was wondering if any of the restaurants are open? Any suggestions?

Howards is definitely open as well as Jason%26#39;s, the Flying Melon, Captn Bens, Pony Island, Cafe Atlantic(I think), and Ocracoke Coffee-possibly a few more but I am not positive. Just call ahead of time to check on the hours and days they are open.

Just depends on your taste and budget.

If Cafe Atlantic is open this is a must for a wonderful relaxed but finer dining. Flying Melon is a favorite for breakfast as well as The Pony Island. We always hit Howards for the atmosphere and onion rings.

If you are staying in a hotel there, they should have some menus to look over. Also check out the reviews on this site.

Thanks so much! In our local newspaper they said that Howards was closed for ';deep cleaning'; this week since the bridges were out and business was slow. This made me think other restaurants would be closed too. I can%26#39;t get any of the restaurants you mentioned on the phone but it%26#39;s Monday so they may be closed.... Will be staying at a private residence so could cook but was hoping for a meal out, too :))

I forgot about Howard%26#39;s being closed, I saw that in our newspaper too. Perhaps it will be open anyway. If not, yes, you do have other choices.

Actually the only restaurant open right now is Jason%26#39;s and Pelican. Normally Howards is also open but given the bridge situation they elected to close. Be sure if you come from Hatteras that you have four-wheel drive and let the air down to 20 lbs. The beach ride in the detour is very interesting as all the traffic has really churned the sand up. Lots of ruts and soft sand.
