Maggie Valley This Weekend

My family and I are going to Maggie Valley for the first time this coming weekend. We have 2 children ages 7 and 5 and plan to go tubing at Tube World. Does anyone have any other recommendations for things we should do?

What about restaurants? I have read on other posts that some may be closed this time of year. What is open that we should try?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Maggie Valley This Weekend

Cataloochee Ski Area is open if your family likes to ski. A friend of mine just got back from there this week. He%26#39;d taken his 5 year old skiing. He started last year and is getting pretty good!

The rock shop in Maggie has always interested my kids (10 %26amp; 7).

Cherokee is always fun to visit. You can go on from Cherokee into the Great Smoky National Park. Newfound Gap usually has snow and ice this time of year.

If you gone that far, you might even try Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge, TN. Lots of fun there.

As far as restaurants, J. Arthurs is open year round. Great steaks.

Joey%26#39;s Pancake House is only open for breakfast. You may have to wait, but it%26#39;s worth it.

Granny%26#39;s Chicken Palace going into Lake Junaluska has very good chicken.

If you go into Waynesville, historic Main St. is beautiful, with several coffee shops, art galleries, restaurants, etc.

Maggie%26#39;s Galley in Waynesville has super seafood.

Sorry this is so broad. Let me know if you have something specific in mind and I%26#39;ll try to help.

Have a great trip!

Maggie Valley This Weekend

Thank you for the info. Since this will be a quick weekend visit we won%26#39;t have a lot of time to explore but it%26#39;s great to know of some options and see what we can accomplish in a couple of days!

A nice day trip close to Maggie Valley is Cataloochee area of the National Park. This is where you can view the elk. Also some homesteads and churches from the late 1800%26#39;s. It is one beautiful place. You will have the place to yourself. The weather looks good for this weekend and a picnic there is awesome. You will have great photo opps too. If you need directions just ask.

Lee is right. I can%26#39;t believe I didn%26#39;t mention Cataloochee Park! It can be a nervous ride; it%26#39;s mostly one-lane gravel %26amp; dirt, but the sight of the elk walking around near daylight and dusk is very cool. And a picnic up there is a great idea.

Have a good time!
