Cell Phone Service and more....

Does anyone know how well Verizon cells work on Ocracoke. Also, we are staying a week in June and our rental doesn%26#39;t have laundry facilities. I know there isn%26#39;t a coin laundry anywhere. Does anyone know of other possibilities for doing laundry should we need it?

Not sure about the laundry question, we%26#39;ve always stayed in places with a washer and dryer. So I can%26#39;t helpyou there.

As far as Verizon it really depends on the type of phone you have and if you update it before you go. For the most part I usually have service in town and driving out to the beach but for some reason my phone does not work on the beach. My husband%26#39;s phone is hit and miss all over the island, and my sister and brother in law generally have service all over the island.

I would suggest speaking to the rental company, perhaps they can offer and idea about the laundry.

As for the cell phone, as the previous poster stated, it can be hit or miss, although in recent years, it has been more reliable. You should be fine.

The closest laundry would be in Hatteras , One of the marinas has a coin operated .

I can%26#39;t Imagen any home with out a laundry or are you staying in a Hotel?

We are actually staying in a studio over Spencer%26#39;s Market.

As Fish oinc says, the closest laundry is at Village Marina in Hatteras beside the deli. One thought on the laundry is Beach Outfitters. They rent all kinds of stuff plus they are the ones who provide Ocracoke Island Realty with linensfor some of their rental cottages.

The best cell provider on the island is Alltel. I get five bars with it. Verison is not very good anywhere in eastern NC.
