Belmont Lodging:

There are two suitable lodging options at present - Gloria%26#39;s Bed and Breakfast and Holiday Inn Express. Hampton Inn will open in 2008. Avoid the independent motels along Wilkinson Blvd - they are flop houses, druggie hang-outs, and dumps.

Belmont Dining:

I recommend Captain%26#39;s Cap for seafood and other dishes. College Park Pharmacy has a good grill. Demetrio%26#39;s on the Blvd. has good Italian and Greek. Nyoshi Japanese is acceptable.

The best burgers are at Nichols on McAdenville Rd. or Catawba Pharmacy/Grill in east end.

For take out BBQ - Buddy%26#39;s on the Blvd is great but open limited hours.

For upscale - steak - try Old Stone Steak House downtown. Sammy%26#39;s Pub has good sandwiches but a raucous atmosphere. Caravan Coffee and Desert Bar is in that vicinity as well.

Fast food abounds- Bojangles, Subway ( in Wal-Mart) Hardee%26#39;s, McDonald%26#39;s, Pizza hut, Wendy%26#39;s, etc..

None of the Chinese restaurants in Belmont are good- their cleanliness is questionable. The two buffets - Happy China and Grand Buffet...well, Happy China is mediocre and Grand Buffet should be avoided. For Chinese - drive to Cramerton and eat at Asian Garden beside Food Lion.

Shirley%26#39;s on Main St. looks like a hole in the wall but it%26#39;s good home cooking.

Drive out toward New Hope Rd ( out Lower Armstrong Rd) and you%26#39;ll find Graham%26#39;s Fish Camp and Twin Tops - excellent calabash style seafood.

There%26#39;s a Dairy Queen on the blvd. And, a Waffle House on Highway 273 at I-85.

Everyone in town that sells hot dogs offers chili. The most popular way to order a hot dog ( or a hamburger) here is ';all the way'; - that%26#39;s mustard, chili, slaw, and onions. And, it has to be good old homemade chili- none of that canned stuff! LOL. Come on over BBQman and have lunch! Best wishes!
