Will it be cold inside touring the Biltmore?

We are going to tour the Biltmore Estate for the first time on November 18th. Since I have read from other posts that is was very hot in the house during the summer, I am wondering if it will be cold in the house being there in the winter? This will help us to know how to be dressed. I am hoping some of those fireplaces will have a great fire going in them when we are there. Thanks for your help everyone.

If it%26#39;s cold outside, it%26#39;ll be cold in the house. They have some heat, but especially the first floor is chilly since the big front doors are open. You would probably do well to layer instead of wearing something big and bulky. Oh, and wear comfortable shoes - there are a lot of stairs, a walk from the parking lot, and walking around the grounds.

Enjoy!

By looking at the forcast I would say a sweater or light jacket would be fine. There is a lot of walking which will keep your body temp up. You don%26#39;t want to be carrying heavy clothes around with you.

Actually, it depends on when you%26#39;re there. If it%26#39;s a candlelight tour on a weekend, the house gets very crowded and those bodies generate a lot of heat. Also, yes, the fireplaces will be going full blast (they%26#39;re gas, but still impressive). I have been on tours when I was actually sweating, so layers are a good idea.
