things to do Thanksgiving weekend?

We have never been to this area, but we are hoping to have 2 days to spend on the Outer Banks after Thanksgiving. Are shops open this time of year? Restaurants? Best place to stay?

Thanks for any advice!

Are you specifically thinking of staying in Ocracoke or another part of the Outer Banks?

It is hard to say what will be open or closed since it is a holiday weekend as well as the time that some stores will already be closed for the season.

If you are staying further North on the Banks, you will find a lot more stores open since there are many more year round residents.

There will be several places to stat it depends on how much you want to spend, Howard鈥檚 will be open for food not sure who else might be open, You will have to look around but I鈥檓 sure you will find enough choices, , A few shop will still be open, Thanksgiving is about the end of the season so your choices will be limited , but you will find the charm and quaintness of the village alive and well though

If you have never been here before , nothing is on the beaches so don鈥檛 expect to find ocean front accommodations . Every thing is located around the harbor or Silver

Lake . The beach is just a short drive from town and if you have 4 wheel drive that would get you to the nicest part of the beach South Point

Jasons, Pont island and Back Porch are also open. The weather is great (at least through Friday when it is getting colder). Quite a few shops will be open as this is the last ';big'; weekend.
