Beach at Caswell Beach (compared to West Long Beach)

Hi! My family has gone to Oak Island every year for 30+ years, we have always stayed in Long Beach (usually west beach). However, we have booked a house on Caswell Beach for the first time June 2008. We wanted to try some *a little different* but we LOVE Oak Island.

The house we booked is near the very end of Caswell Beach, 300 block near the lighthouse. How is the actual beach there compared to West Beach? I can see that the houses are set farther back on the dunes, I really like this. I will say that the beach on Long Beach is very nice now that the dunes are getting more established since the renurishment. (I can remember when the tides came all the way up to your porch several years ago)

We now have a toddler in the family that we plan to spend a lot of time on the beach with. Some of the pictures the beach looks less deep than that on Long Beach. Is there plenty of room for walking and playing at high tide?

Thank you!

Bump! Any opinions on the beach itself at Caswell?

Beach at Caswell Beach (compared to West Long Beach)

Hi there, I actually grew up on Oak Island and lived most of that time next to the lighthouse at Caswell.

First off, the beach there is virtually deserted, which is nice because it tends to feel like your own private beach because, as you know, there are only two rows of houses.

But I must admit, the ocean from Yaupon to the end of Long Beach is MUCH MUCH nicer than that down at Caswell. Reason being that the Cape Fear empties right there y%26#39;know. So the water is usually not as blue and tends to have more debris in general.

Other than that, you just can%26#39;t beat the privacy and exclusive feel.

Good luck!
